What is the Water Remediation Process?

What Is The Complete Water Remediation Process?

Certainly, following water damage mitigation, the remediation process begins, followed by final restoration.  The steps involved in water remediation is in fact wider  than in water mitigation.

Chiefly, mitigation and restoration involve five steps:

1. THE COMPLETE REMOVAL OF WATER

First, water damage restoration teams eliminate water from floors, carpets, ceilings, and drywall.  Here, water is removed from furniture and personal items using special equipment.

2. PRECISE MOISTURE MONITORING

Next, identifying and addressing hidden moisture spots early is a critical aspect of the process. Of course, it is important to start early with this comprehensive approach to prevent mold growth and wood rot.

3. SANITIZATION AND CLEANING

Using specialized tools and products, all affected surfaces are cleaned to avoid further damage.  Following cleaning, an OSHA-approved sanitizer is applied to eliminate any bacteria left behind.

4. THE FINAL DRYING

Shortly thereafter, water remediation now moves into the final stage of the drying process. During the reclamation process, industrial equipment continues to operate for several days or longer. Restoration can begin once the surface is dry.

5. REPAIRS

Finally, the last step involves repairing the structure before finally restoring it. It covers floors, ceilings, and drywall. In remediation, unsalvageable materials are often removed. All repairs needed following water damage can be handled by a contractor.

Does The Work Require Special Equipment?

Water damage professionals work with an arsenal of advanced tools and specialized products to make sure the remediation is complete and thorough. A few of the specialized equipment we use include drying equipment, vacuuming systems, moisture meters, centrifugal air movers, and dehumidifiers.
